One of the best golf courses in Montana sits just seven miles from the Canadian border outside the quirky and quaint small town of Eureka. And it’s our home course, The Wilderness Club’s very own Sir Nick Faldo-designed masterpiece. It is an 18-hole championship golf course surrounded by the Kootenai National Forest and, as the locals love to say, on the “backside” of Glacier National Park. To say its setting is unique is a vast understatement. It is open and has extensive, long-distance, awe-inspiring views from almost every hole. The scenery is extraordinary; the course is magnificent in every way, and it is all by design.
In an article by 19th Hole Magazine entitled “Golf and Glory: Great Outdoor Luxury Adventure in Montana,” Nick Faldo was quoted as saying, “I was struck by the vastness of the terrain here on all my visits to the Wilderness Club, now that the design is complete, you can really appreciate how our course perfectly complements this awe-inspiring landscape. The sandy side and gently rolling topography, coupled with the dense pine forest that the area borders, make for an interesting mix of woodland and links-style qualities that offers a truly diverse golfing experience,” said Faldo. “As with any of our projects, this design offers strategic choices that appeal to golfers of all abilities, from the casual weekender to the seasonal professional. With this emphasis on thoughtful golf and a design approach that has been extremely sympathetic to preserving the existing character of these wonderful surroundings, I’m confident that our completed layout at the Wilderness Club will stand comparison with some of the most memorable courses in the country.”

In 2022, Golf Week named The Wilderness Club the #1 golf course in Montana. The course earned this accolade and is a must-see, must-play course for anyone in love with golf. The course is the crown jewel of our private golf course community (as of January 2026), rivaling more highly trafficked golf courses near Whitefish, Boseman, and Big Sky.
